This highly successful program has provided the basic legal background for hundreds of environmental health specialists since first offered in 1981. This workshop is rewritten and updated each year to include the most current statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to the environment and your job. Interns must have a minimum of one year&#8217;s experience on the job (after completing intern training) to attend this course.<\/p>\n<p>In this program you will focus on the Environmental Health Services Section programs and their working relationship to local health department environmental programs. You will have the opportunity to frankly discuss important legal interpretations often required in the day-to-day dealings with citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will focus on issues including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where does the law come from and where can I find the law?<\/li>\n<li>Who will help me interpret and apply the law?<\/li>\n<li>What legal remedies are available to enforce public health laws?<\/li>\n<li>What will happen if I am sued because of something I did in my work?<\/li>\n<li>When are documents and information considered public records?<\/li>\n<li>When may I lawfully enter private property?<\/li>\n<li>What should I do if I am faced with an ethical dilemma?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Objectives<\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong>The purpose of this workshop is to teach participants how the system of North Carolina health laws, rules, and regulations can support and guide them in their daily work.
